Whitehall Primary School combines high quality teaching, with a therapeutic approach to emotional development and behaviour. It was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. The Limes Nursery School and Children’s Centre, located adjacent to Whitehall Primary, has a rich curriculum ensuring pupils are developed in all aspects of their learning development; access to support in health, employment, housing, and parenting is also offered to all families within the community.
In order to meet the growing demand from local families for additional places, Whitehall Primary and Limes Nursery are both part of an expansion scheme funded and overseen by Bristol City Council. The aims of the allocated funding are as follows:
- Expansion of the primary school from 2 Form Entry (420 pupils) to 3 Form Entry (630 pupils), with places for an additional 90 Reception pupils provided by September 2015, and all accommodation completed by September 2016
- Increase in places for under two year olds at the nursery by up to 20 places.
At the Briefing stage workshop, stakeholders debated priorities and aspirations for the project. These were recorded in the briefing record, which would then be taken into account by the design team for the development of the brief and design.
